Schladming, the most western town in Styria, is situated in the centre of the Dachstein - Tauern Region. Whilst the town has gained its enviable reputation through winter sports, the range of sporting activities available in summer is also equally inexhaustible and very varied. Schladming, a mountain community situated on the River Enns and steeped in history, nestles between the jagged limestone mountains of the Dachstein Massif and the primary rocks of the Schladminger Tauern Range.
In 1982 it was the venue of the World Cup Alpine Skiing Championships and in 1993 for the Special Olympics. Schladming is again candidate for the World Cup Alpine Skiing Championships 2011 or 2013. |
